I am so glad I found this place. I just got my first truck. The first vehicle that I have owned that I absolutely love. Lately though I have been rather frustrated with it. I have a 1980 Bronco with a 351M. Lately it has been sputtering and dying when I put it in gear or when I come to a stop. When it is in neutral sometimes it idles at +-800 rpm, sometimes it idles over 1200 RPM. Today it started dying constantly whenever I couldn't give it enough gas to keep going, and it seems to be running a bit rough now. It also backfired for the first time today. I would appreciate any help anyone could give me. Thank You.
i just tuned it up today. the plugs looked really bad. it is still running the same though. i also changed the air filter, fuel filter and the plug wires.
i think i found it. there was a small crack in the distributor under the cap. when i was loosening it it completely broke off. thanks for your help guys.
