Disable daylight running lights-possible?
#2
Are you in Canada where they are required?
I have read in several places that DRL are configurable through the computer and the dealer could do it if they want to. I'm not aware of a procedure that the owner can do to enable/disable the DRL like you can do to disable the seatbelt reminder. Call the dealer service department and ask if they will disable for you. They may see it as a laibility and not do it though.
Are the '07's coming through with day running lights? I had hoped and thought they got away from that.

I'm in washington state. The DRL are really annoying! Sometimes I forget to turn the lights all the way on, leaving them in the parking light position. Main reason though is I like to turn the headlights off when pulling into my apartment parking space. The lights shine directly into my neighbors window : ).
I never thought about talking to the service department.
Is the drag on the alternator and engine that much? I never thoght about that aspect.

I looked at several window stickers online for about 10, 2007 Escapes and couldn't find daytime running lights as a feature on any of them. The Limiteds appear to have automatic headlights but no mention of DRL on any of the others. I guess it could be part of a safety package or convenience group. I'm wondering if you got the DRL because you are close to Canada and the vehicle could have been sold either side of the border. It may have just been a programming mistake.
I think a call to the dealer may at least get you an answer as to whether they are standard issue now and/or if they are required by your state. I think the answers will be "no". Hopefully they help you out.
Good luck.

I had called a dealer last week and they said they maybe could but they would have to hook up to the computer to make a determination if it would be possible. Going to call another dealer next week.
