Need help with what its worth ('55 Panel)...
A friend of mine contacted me to help him sell his '55 panel truck. I've been trying to watch ebay to get an idea of its worth, but they don't come up that often. I looked it over and took some pics today. Its an old '60's rod. It has a 390/c-6, mustang buckets, 5 stewart warner gauges, chrome dash rail/glove box door/ash tray, an olds tilt/tele column, power brakes w/swing pedals, a gm power steering box mounted ahead of the axle, its also supposed to have a mopar 8 3/4 rear. It did run/move late last fall, and it does have a title. The body appears to be very solid, may have been patched on the lower cowl though. The only thing missing is the front bumper. The only bad thing on the body, is that it has a sun roof, but it is a fairly small one. It has a '56 grill but will come with a '53(I believe the front clip and doors are from a '53) and a '55 grill. I know its hard to give a value w/o seeing it in person, but a ballpark of what it would bring on the bay would be really helpful. Also, for the panel experts, what would a nice set of '53-56 panel rear doors bring by themselves? TIA, Matt

The Panel trucks are rare and hard to find because not many were made. I've seen them sell for any where from about $2000 to $20,000. It's too bad the truck has a sun roof but that could be repaired by the right person. Someone would probably buy the truck and change the drivetrain and a few other things. By the pictures it's not too bad looking for someone to start with. If there is alot of rust in the typical places it won't bring a great price. If the rear doors are solid and have little rust they can be worth around $300-$500 for the set. Without seeing other pictures of the body and knowing more about it. I'd say it's worth around $2000 maybe more.... Hope this helps.

I see alot of work just based on the pictures, Matt. The hotrod stuff you can see doesn't amount to much. The stuff you can't see may even detract from it's value. As always, a motivated buyer will pay crazy money for this truck. If it is going on e-bay, let the market forces take effect. One man's decent panel does not necessarily equate with this one. Trying to squeeze every nickel of value from the "what is it worth" queston is a tough one.
