1955 ford gauges and other questions?? help?

So, I have been looking at past posts and I have yet to get this completely cleared up.

First- I have almost completly wired up my dash gauges to the original prints what I want to know is what do I need for a voltage regulator for my gauges. I would like to go about it the cheapest way possible, being a poor college student. Or if you know what the gauges draw for amps I could probably scratch my head for a while and figure it out, but I would like to know what others have done to get it going while saving a few dollars.

Second- What exactly do I need to do to the heater and wiper motors to allow them to run on 12 volts.

Third- This isn't as important but I thought I'd let you know. I am going to running a 3-wire alt. And just to be sure, I run the bat wire to the pos on the battery and (looking at the backof the alt) the right terminal goes to the bat post on the back of alt. and the other terminal can be left unhooked

I'm going to try to get the wiring tied up either this weekend or next so please let me know if you guys got anything. I'll try to get more pics up in the next week or two, (as soon as I can push it out for a pic weather permitting)

The only thing I can tell you is, you will need what was once called a "volta-drop" device to run 6 volt equipment from a 12 volt battery. It's been 35 years since I did anything like this, so I can't recall the procedures. There are electrical gurus here that can help.

Patience.

As an update.

Question 1. I got a CVR orderd to come in today that takes care of the gauges.

Question 2. Still would like to know what I have to do to run my 6volt wipers with a 12 volt system. I got a new 12 volt blower motorturns out a 70 somthing bolts right in after the squrril cage fan is drilled out to acept a 5/16" shaft.

Question 3. I'm still a little unclear if I can leave the one spade plug not hooked up to anything.

If all goes well next weekend and I don't fry anything I may turn over the old Y-block for the first time since I've owned the truck and there is a 50% chance I will get it running for the first time depending if I rebuild the carb correctly, and get all the hoses hooked up, and hook up the batt and, and, and...... Yeah I got a little ways to go still.

Any input on the wipers and Alt. would be awesome.

Thanks
-Scott
