1999 F-150 2WD 4.2 V6: Do You Use Motor Flush?
We bought our truck last month from a deceased relative. It had 87,000 miles on it and has been sitting in his garage since Nov. 2005.
I changed all the fluids and oil with filter upon purchase. We've put 500 miles on it since. When checking the oil yesterday I noticed it was very dirty looking, very "brownish."
I was thinking this was some type of build up from sitting idel so long and bought some new oil, filter and some Gunk Motor Flush.
I have never used Motor Flush before. Gunk says put it in cold engine, start and run five minutes, then change oil.
Do you guys know any other tricks, tips, etc., other than just follow directions on container?
Thanks!

Yes, flush is a last resort.
A couple things will work to clean one up without harsh flush.
1. My favorite is JB (Justice Brothers) Engne Tune Up.
It's the best I have ever used and designed to run all the time so not harsh, assuming you can find it anywhere, I can't.
2. I have used Marvel Mystery Oil for this, not bad.
3. Put 1/2 qt of ATF in in place of some of your oil, tranny fluid is high detergent and will clean alot. I have known a few people who always substituted a qt of ATF for oil, all the time. I see no need for it every day.
I usually do one of these on about everything I buy, then change with regular oil then go synthetic.
