How come my 99 Sport brake cable won't work?
On my 99 Explorer Sport 4x2 I looked underneath the car and on the emergency brake pedal assembly and all the brake cables were hooked up and tight. But when I apply the brake cable, it doesn't get tight or hold. Is there something wrong or is the shoes worn out? Is it going to be more difficult that regular drum brakes since it is for the emergency brake? It has 4 wheel discs, with the drum in rotor for the rear emergency brake shoes. We also have a problem with it eating up rear brake pads in less than 30,000 miles. I thought it was the rotors being warped so I replaced both rear rotors and less than 30,000 miles the pads are worn totally down. I didn't see any leakage from the calipers but was told by a shop that looked at the brakes it needed new rear calipers. Is that an easy replacement on this vehicle?
