'91 and '92 F-250 Frame Differences

For the purpose of attaching a snow plow does anyone know what the difference is in the F-250 frame between the 1991 and 1992 model years? Last week I bought a 1994 F-250 and I want to put an old Meyer snow plow on it for some light plowing at my Mother's home. Come to find out the "conventional" mount was discontinued after '91 and the truck frame is different from '92-'98. Meyer also went to the EZ-Mount system in '92 and the cost of updating from the conventional mount and A-frame is prohibitive. If there is not much difference from '91 to the '92-'98 truck frames, I would pick up the earlier conventional mount and cut/weld/drill it to fit. I don't want to spend $350 if it won't work.

My plow has a V-belt driven hydraulic pump. It looks like an old power steering pump. Has anyone mounted a second power steering pump on their engine for use with the serpentine belt? If so, what did you use for brackets?

Thanks for your help.

In terms of frame, the difference is in the front section from the rad support forward. On the newer trucks they have an accordian style boxed section that is designed to crumple in a collision. The older style frames were just and exstension of the c-channel. The new style frame does not have a nice flat surface for mounting until the last 3-4" where the bumper brackets are. Hope that helps.

My '92 F-150 has the accordian frame but I don't recall this truck having it. I'll have to look closer when I get home. I suppose I could weld some channel iron over the accordian part and cut and weld the mount. Thanks for your help.

I dont recall the year/ years. I know ford made the F 150 4X4 unable to take a plow. You had to buy a 250 or 350 and had to tell them at the dealer you whanted a plow. Had to change the air bag sensors. A few of the new truck were blasting off the air bag when the mold board floped back upright.

Sorry I dont know the diff. on the frame for that year. I just know there was a differnce between the 150s and 250s.

I would weld/bolt flat steel on the accordian frame to make it work. Good luck.

I'm thinking I may have a '91 and earlier frame underneath this thing. I was able to get a good look at it this morning in daylight and there is no accordian frame. The previous owner bought it at a police auction (it shows up on the Sec'y of State website as being sold at police auction Feb 1st). He didn't know the history but the cab had definitely been changed at some time in the past. Maybe I caught a break?

I'm going to pick up the '91 and earlier mount. Thanks for all your help and advice.
