Zoodad Mod, a new way to do it!?
Ok, I spent the time to read the 13 pages of the other zoodad mod page. I am going to perform the ZOODAD Mod, but I have an adjustment and wounder if anyone else has done this?
Rather than cutting a BIG hole and using a screen to help keep out the rain, Snow and Bugs. What if I was to create about 50, 60, or 70 1/4 ot 3/8' holes. The effective air intake will be the same for the cooling/RAM effect, but the screen like holes will help from getting stuff in there.
I plan on putting an AFE Stage 2 kit in there too.
What are your thoughts???????

I just did this mod and it took about 20 min. The hardest part was getting the lower clips of the grill to release. I don't think any water is going to get into the filter, unless you go for a swim. A screen may help keep the bugs out but unless you have a big build up of bugs on the area your cutting out I don't think bugs will be a big issue. I used a 3" hole saw at the top and a 2" at the bottom and an angle grinder to clean it up.

I have not done it yet, but there is also a Cover Plate by AirFury that in essence is the same as the Zoodad. It is a square hole that then has a nice chrome slotted cover. This should help eliminate any larger stuff from getting in. Also makes the install look nicer. The kit sells for about $40, not too bad. Once I get some cash from the wife, going to order one.

Search on this site for after market airfilters before you change, I had an afe on and remover it after reading posts on here and reading a study about after market filters that was also mentioned here. The factory flows enough air for the engine the AFE didn't help mine any. It did cause more dusting of the turbo, they flow more air but also more dirt.

My boat Hino's used a piece of foam for 1000 hours before I added a filter. Turbos are not sand blasted, then again, there is not allot of dust on the water.
