LENT - whatcha giving up?
As my handle suggests, I've grown up in church. But it was a Protestant church, and I still attend a Protestant church, just a different denomination. I married a girl that was raised Roman Catholic. So when we were first married, I gave up soda for Lent, so as to be respectful of her folks.
Although I didn't grow up with the concept of giving up something as a sacrifice during the Lentin season, I have come to appreciate the significance of it. The idea of giving up something you really enjoy with the idea of remembering the sacrifice that Christ made for humanity - pretty serious stuff.
So, anyone giving up anything? I'm leaning towards giving up pasta.

Lent is traditionally a time of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Some groups sacrifice or abstain from some activity or food and divert the funds saved from that abstinance to give to charity. Others offer up their time or services to help others.
Where does Ezekiel 8 proscribe any of these practices?
I'm having a hard time figuring out why you posted here anyway. It seems you are trying to start a religions fight. You know that's not tolerated on this board. Are you just wanting to see this thread locked?
