I guess they could use them for the bigger trucks but the conversion isn't cheap as you need to get custom axles and a bunch of other stuff. Here's a pic I found of a 1/2 version.

Another thing is they will look a little "odd" on our trucks. This is mostly a offroading thing.

While we're working on the rearends
I would like to get the axle dimensions for the Dana 41/44's. need the info below for the 48-50, 51-52, 53-56 yrs. The dimension are A, B, C, D, E, F & G - Gee, I forgot G. G is the diameter of the axle shaft at the bearing race.
Thanks

I just happen to have the axles out of my '52 Dana 44.

A=1.242" (O.D. of the splines)
B=2-5/16"
C=7"
D=29-5/8"
G=1.534"

I dont have a set of bearings to measure for E&F.

This is a great thread. Really interesting info. Thanks for pulling all of this together!

Thanks,
Do you know how many people are named Dana? Or how many Differential Equations there are?

A Bunch.

One thing I did forget in the request

Number of splines?

Cool info Dick, I hope its all written down somewhere, there's no way I can keep track of all these different numbers and such. I'd love to help you out but the stock diff out of my truck is long gone, I don't even have a (useful) pic of it.

Why is My Rearend Different?

I found a lot of good information in the Technical Information Section on this site.
In the attached link it explains how my rearend may be different than your's.
