Toe-in

Does anyone know the proper toe in (degrees) for a 56 F-100. The shop manual only lists this spec in inches. Thanks

Whatever the original spec was, you probably don't want to use it. It was for bias-ply tires, and if you are running radials that spec will scrub off a lot of rubber unnecessarily. I don't recall ever seeing toe-in in degrees, it is usually in distance (inches or mm). As I recall for a beam axle with radials, the proper spec is 1/16" toe-in.

Have your alignment shop switch the equipment to read "toe" in inches, then you can work from the factory specs as a starting point. As ALBUQ F-1 stated, 1/16" toe-in is a good starting point. If you find it wanders on a straight, flat road then the toe-in probably needs to be increased.

If you get the dreaded "death wobble" you might try increasing the toe slightly also. It seams like I set my total toe at about 1/4" but I'm also running bias ply tires too.

Death wabble

I put a sterring damper on, just a shock with some brackets, and no more wabble, and the tires don't wear out as fast, too!
