I've been looking for a front Dana 44 from a '79 bronco, but found one from a '79 F150. Can anybody here tell me what's different for these two models? I know there's something about the trailing arm mounts, but not sure about the details. Anything else? Is it still a high pinion reverse diff?
I'm working on a IFS to solid axle swap on my 1995 Dodge Dakota using a coil-sprung Dana 44, but all of my info so far relates to the Bronco axle and I don't know if the F150 front is useful to me.

I am currently working on putting a a 78 bronco frontend in my 66 J-300 and snagged the diff from a bronco and the suspension from a 79 f-150, which also still had the diff. I did not compare the 2 diffs with a magnifying glass, but as far as i could tell, they were the same. the only differance i am aware of is that some had 2 shock setups, and others had 4 shock setups, in which the forward shock was mounted on the on the front "C" part of the radius arm. the 2 shock setups do not have the provision for mounting a shock on the front of the radius arm. Then the upper shock tower on the drivers side is combined with the trac bar(panhard bar) mount. Hope this helps you out a little.And good luck I am getting pretty excited about getting it in, and actually having disc brakes on the thing.
