FORD & GM Jealous of TOYOTA?
With recent market-share gains and sales continuing to increase, we are becoming the de facto leader of the industry -- that brings risks and responsibilities," according to a presentation by Seiichi (Sean) Sudo, president of Toyota Engineering & Manufacturing in North America. "Our competitors are jealous of our success."
Damn, Really pisses me Off the didnt take care of this problem sooner

How successful is too much? It's the same with Microsoft and thier Windows.
Toyota is good with business, it's that simple.
-More money in than out.
-Make products that people want. (Aztec, Freestar, etc)
-Don't change your products name on a whim. (Intrigue, 500, etc)
-Don't let products stagnate while at the same time not change them so radically that people lose thier comfort level with said product. (Ranger)
They know business.

People hate them simply because they are doing well. They hate them because at the same time, domestics are doing poorly. They associate the two as Toyota is somehow taking advantage of some situation that the domestics are in.
In reality, Yota is just doing what it always has been doing. Making products that people want, at prices they know people will pay, and profitting.
Domestics have been making products that they think we will want, but don't, at a loss, and leaning on truck sales to make ends meet.
Along comes $3 per gallon gas. 12MPG average truck sales tank. Domestic car quality is in the crapper and has been for some time. Yota is known for quality and good mileage. They sell well, and for a profit.
$3/gallon gas was just the straw that broke the back. It was coming slowly, but surely. Gas prices just sped things up.
Toyota is doing well because of what they have been doing and domestics are doing poorly because of what they have been doing.
Blaming domestic auto maker failure on Toyota and other foreign auto makers is unfounded. They are both just getting the fruits of thier labor, bitter or sweet.

This is the ssame storry as Boeing and Airbus, When you sit on your reputation and
products long enough the competiters will catch uup and unknowingly pass you by
oone day. Boeing cuaght this sooon uunough and was ablee to stage a come back
and have they everr selling ooverr 2000 airplanes in 2 yr, and just loook at airbus
they are in a wash, disinagrating from the inside out.
So i have sincere confedence that our Ameerican named companies FORD/gm not sure
about DiemlerCrysler will be back in the hunt better than before and stamping their

Air Bus receives financial aid from the French and German governments, as well as a third country, whose name escapes me. Recent problems with Air Bus' new super airliner has been a boon for Boeing. Boeing is doing better today than it has in years.
Boeing receives no US Gov't assistance.

People may hate them but they still buy them. Just like everybody complains about WalMart and then turns right around and shops there. People gripe and complain but when it comes down to it, they buy products based on what they think is the best value for them.

Toyota has been building their reputation for a lot of years. In the late 70's, my parent's next door neighbour picked up a new Corolla. It was a great little car. Now their aiming at bigger markets with SUVs and light trucks. The big three are only realizing this now? Maybe they better pick up their socks and figure out what they're doing wrong or we're going to see a big shift in the North American auto industry. If Toyota jumps on a 1/2 ton diesel Tundra for the US & Canada, look out Ford, GM & Chrysler. The North American pick up buyers have been asking for an F150 diesel for a while now. Who's listening? Don't get me wrong, I love my SD diesel. My next truck will probably be another one, but maybe I would have bought another F150 or a Tundra if I could have bought a diesel one. I wonder if any of the auto makers have people watching websites like this one? hmmm...
