Cool Hyundai in line for chrysler now!!??

this is just down right riduculous.. Is Chrysler doing really That bad!!?
I mean i keep hearing how chrysler is gaining sales and everything. I mean sure they lost money but i thought they were doing well prior to this.. I'm sorry but as much as I really dont like Dodge they really don't deserve this . http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/article1400177.ece

Why don't they deserve it?

The big three should learn how to run a business from Honda and Toyota and not just wave the American flag in their commercials and expect people to buy their cars.

It's not that Chrysler is doing bad. Chrysler is doing well right now. It's Daimler wanting to sell them off.

I don't know why Daimler merged with Chrysler in the first place.

Chrysler hasn't down well since gas hit 3 bucks a gallon, and has not recovered, even though gas prices have dropped...for now.

Diamler didn't merge with Chrysler..Diamler bought Chrysler. What ticked people off from the get go was Diamler announced that Chrysler was to be a division of Diamler-Benz, not an equal partner.

Chrysler's sales of trucks, mini vans, SUV's and 300's among others have tanked. Last year, Chrysler overbuilt so many cars and trucks, they sent them to the dealers whether the dealers ordered them or not. This same tactic led to Chrysler going bankrupt 20 some years ago. Only guaranteed loans backed by the US Government saved Chrysler then.

Recently Dodge had over 100,000 unsold 2006 Rams scattered all over Detroit storage lots. They went directly from Dodge Main to the lots. Now, 2007 Rams are filling what's left of the space on those lots, 1000's of new 2005 Ram's are still on dealers lots nationwide.

Chrysler has been in a bad way for over a year...in worse condition than Ford or GM. It's no secret that Dr Z has been trying to dump Chrysler since December of 2005.

If they sell Chrysler I really want to see GM buy it. Think of the fun we can all have. Everyone has to know at lest one Dodge guy that says all of GM stuff is junk and they'd by a Ford Truck before they'd buy a Chevy. I know at lest three people like this. I gave one of them a very hard time when Chrysler was purchased by Diamler-Benz group about his none American truck. If this would happen I could have a ball about his GM product.

i think toyota should buy it, or maybe nissan even.

then they can scrap everything except for the trucks and just make it a truck company to compete against ford and gm.

Hell, I just might buy them...anyone know what a car company is selling for these days? It's been awhile since I've bought one.

If GM buys dodge that would be AWESOME. A smooth ride of the GM, Allison paired w/ the CTD. Think of the possibilities.

If GM does purchase Chrysler, Ford is in deep trouble. More than they're already in.

@ Number Dummy
Chrysler has been in a bad way for over a year...in worse condition than Ford or GM.
Chrysler has been doing better than GM and Ford for the past few years. With the exception of a few off months, it seemed that every month Chrysler was up and GM and Ford were down. GM is on the rise again, Ford is still on a spiral.

Also, Ford lost 13 billion dollars last year. How is Chrysler in worse shape?

Automotive News, I've been a subscriber since 1967.

Please explain to me if Chrysler is doing so well why has Dr Z has been shopping Chrysler for over a year? And why does Chrysler have storage lots throughout Detroit crammed with unsold 2006 Rams?

Dealers nationwide are loaded with Rams, mini vans, Durango's and 300's, not to mention Crossfires and Pacifica's. Some of the Rams and most of the Crossfires are leftover 2005's. Two years ago, dealers were getting MSRP + for 300C's and Tourings...SRT's were out of sight. Saturday's full page Los Angeles Times and San Gabriel Valley Tribune newspapers ads had 300's at $8,000.00 off sticker, Rams at $10,000 off sticker, PT Cruisers for $10,995.00. This is nothing new, those prices have been advertized for months.

Chrysler recently sent dealers nationwide cars they didn't order to reduce inventory. Nothing pi$$es a dealer off more. Chrysler did the same thing 25 some years ago. It cost them. Dealers canceled their contracts, and Chrysler went bankrupt, only guaranteed loans from the US Government saved Chrysler from folding.

Chrysler sales have tanked ever since gas hit $3 bucks a gallon. Do you really believe that Diamler-Benz would want to sell Chrysler, if sales were good? I think not.

Check out the section in the back of Automotive News that shows production figures between 2005 and 2006...for all the domestics. It's sad...really sad.

On the upside, you can get a new or slightly used 2006 Ram for dirt cheap. I really like the new Mega Cab so I started searching around. You can get a brand new 06 1500 Hemi Mega Cab for 26K. 2500 CTD for 34K brand new.

There are some on autotrader that have nav and everything with 5000 miles on them for 23K.

So they lose and we win.

By the way, I don't mean to pick on Chrysler. It's all the "domestics" that sales have slowed or tanked. Ford has nothing to crow about and GM doesn't either.

One thing I read recently in US News, or Business Week (I forget, read a lot), was protests to Ford by the UAW over white collar bonuses. HUH?

Ford is closing plants and laying off workers but still has money for bonuses? Is it any wonder that Ford is losing market share? Not are they losing in the sales race, but the credibility race too.

Bonuses for white collar workers...what a CROCK!!
