Power window problems

I just started to have problems with my pass. side window it will go up but get stuck on the way up. It will go then slow down and go again would this be my motor or gears and if its the gears I know I can get a rebuild kit for that but I checked my local auto parts store and they only have one kit that says will only fit late modle regulator which one would I have my truck is a 1988 ford f150.

Early/Late: Depends on the number of teeth on the metal drive gear which fits atop the plastic gear. Late style means after 1969.

This number below is what Ford car/truck parts book lists for all 1970/89 cars & trucks. It fits 1990 and later (how much later, I don't remember...have no books after 1989).

Most of the time it is the plastic clutch. Take the gear housing apart. Clean the broken plastic out. Re-lube with synthetic brake grease. Drop 3 each 3/8" or 10MM ball bearings into the mechanism. Put the cover back on and reinstall. You can get ball bearings at most hardware stores. I have done this many times.

I forgot to mention in my above post that D0AZ-62234A24-B is the gear repair kit...not the entire motor.

The power windows in my 94 Explorer used the same old guaranteed failure mechanism as the 70-89 vehicles did. I think that was one of those planned obsolescence things. They had a 100% failure rate. Kind of like the guaranteed to fail nylon cam timing gears or newer chain guides and the absolutely designed to fail 10-cut lock cylinders. Then of course we have the always leak AC fittings, always fail door switches, and the never not fail blend door mechanisms. I think I could do an energizer bunny on part failures here. Bill could probably name of a LOONNNNGGGGGG list. Ford keeps on using the same failed designs tho, but then Ford does not consider them design failures...
