51 5 star deluxe extra cab numbers

I saw a guy who had a 51 F1 5 star deluxe extra cab on ebay for sale and he claimed there was only 1500 5 star deluxe extra cabs made in 1951. And all the rest was just a 5 star cab trucks. I have read alot on the 48-52 F1's and have never seen this number mentioned on the 51 F1 trucks. Is this true or is it one of those good lines to try and sell his truck. By the way I got my new tires and wheels on my 51 today. I will post some pics in my gallery by the end of the week. I'm trying to wait for the weather to break so I can get it out of the garage and get some good pics of it. Scott

Ford never kept records on that, so there is no way to know. It's just a line to sell the truck.

I just looked up your interest in my book, and there is no mention of a production amount of what you were refering to.

There is how ever, mention of the Standard 5 Star Cab, and the 5 Star Extra Cab, but again no production numbers in this book anyway.
While looking through this info I learned some thing that I neve knew before, and that was Grille colors, and head light doors.

Early 51 had the Argent Silver Grille, with Chrome Headlamp Surrounds. Late 51 had the Cream Colored Grille, with Argent Silver Head Lamp Surrounds.

This is a pic of the 51 that I used to own, it was a 5 Star Extra, but having the Chrome Headlamp Surrounds added for cosmetic looks.

Thanks for the help. I read what I could find on these truck and never found a production number either. My truck is the 5 star extra cab it is blue with the silver grille and chrome head light rings. That is a very nice truck. I bet it was hard to let that one go. It would have been for me. Scott

Yes your right it was hard to let it go, it was just as nice and solid as it looks.
Bought that truck in Las Vegas a few years back, it had been stored in a warehouse and came out twice a year for show conventions, and was used as a prop.
I have a pic of an original 51, 5 Star when it was brand new, and the color was the Dark Blue, as you said yours is.
Its not a very good pic, as it was taken with one of the early Cameras, unlike the ones of today. Non the less it shows enough detail with the Argent Silver Grille, with the Chrome head Lamp rings, and Bumpers that were also painted the Argent Silver. The pic is in Black & White, so the color does show as far as if you know what your looking for.
