59 VIN location

i'm picking up a 59 next weekend.
i did not see the VIN data plate on back of driver door.
not sure where else to look.
i was told its a 3/4 ton. it is a custom cab, with the long bed.

but not sure of difference between a 100 or 250 series.

thanks

It is mounted on the inside of the glovebox door. . . and about the only difference between the F100 and 200 is the springs, drums, 8 lug wheels. The sheetmetal is the same, as (I was told) the frame too.

List your VIN and all the numbers from the plate. They can be decoded to show where the truck was made, what sales office it went to, the original style of upholstery, type of engine/transmission, rear end ratio, etc.

. . ..
Sorry, this is not correct. I have a '57, a '59, and a '60 in my yard and all have the data plate on the inside of the glove box door. They are F100s.

The offical 1959 Truck Parts and Accessories Catalog states that it "is installed on the left front cab pillar or glove box door depending on the model. On the Parcel Delivery, it is located on the right hand dash panel."

I do not know how big a truck needs to be to have it on the cab pillar, but I do know the 1/2, 3/4 and 1 ton size has it on the glove box door.
