1998 explorer 4.0 P0171 and hard start/stall when cold

1998 explorer 4.0 P0171 and hard start/stall when cold
Been having an intermittant SES light,P0171 fuel trim lean...engine runs OK. Now with the cold weather,am having a hard start cold,and stalling concern. Any help is appreciated. The only thing that I have changed out is the fuel filter

My 2000 SOHC 6 had the same problem. along with P0174.
Replaceing he idle air controller fixed the stalling at cold start. $75 at napa
intake manifold gaskets fixed the codes. $470 at the dealer
