Craftsman Quadbox Wrenches.

What are your opinions on these ? I should point out that each wrench has four sizes. 5/16 + 3/8 & 7/16 + 1/2.

9/16 + 5/8 & 11/16 + 3/4.

8mm + 10mm & 12mm + 13mm.

16mm + 17mm & 18mm + 19mm.

My old set of Craftsman "Boxsockets" were the usual two sizes per wrench.

I prefer the older style, although Gearwrenchs have really taken over. The older style (two sizes per wrench) allows you to spin something down a shaft quickly and leave it in place. The newer style, you don't get to completely encompase the nut, and then is more of a gimmicky tool (won't last more then a few years in the marketplace).

The newer style is reversable. I have been caught on concave bolts against the housing on combines with the old ones. The new 4-1 is deep enough to stay on and the shoulder keeps it from letting the nut through. Added bonus, they take less space in your handbox or dash.

The older style are reversable too, you just have to remove it to change direction.
It's too bad they came up with this retarded new style with two different sizes per head, it's twice as wide as the old style so it's useless for tight spots, and they've basically defeated the purpose of the original idea, being able to slip the wrench on one end of a nut and off the other end to work on another nut further down on a common shaft. if the nut is 3/4 the 11/16 end won't let you past ?

I hope they get their heads out of their butts and return to making the old style.
