e4od are used up to early 99 IIRC. 4r100 after that. There isn't much difference between the 2. Some internals are interchangable (planitries, TC ect.) 4r100 is a better trans right out of the box but the e4od can be made reliable. In stock form they usually fail prematurely behind a PSD. There are a couple rebuilders that can make them bullet-proof. BTS is one.
