Im sorry I didn't get back to you guy's right away but I 've read every post and was delighted with all the information you guy's came up with. I really like this forum you guy's are great. First to answer some of the questions with a question, will a 351 w or c mount in place of a 302? I had bob's f-100 install the volare front suspension and it looks kind of funky. So if it would fit I would consider the swap. Second the rear end [ford 9"] was also installed by bob's and am not sure what ratio I have. there is no information on the third member or housing so I will have to pull it apart to find what it is. I believe it was a 370 but not sure. third Im not really into speed but I like to look like I could and my truck is looking pretty fast just sittin there. I know 400 horese is a little much and was being facetious but 270 to 300 would be great. I think you guy's are right Iam way under 200 and the goodies didn't much help. Ford motors are new to me and I was told there were alot of variations of the 302 and I wanted to stay ford in a ford but what I really wanted originally was the 351 with C6 combo but at the time this 302 and supposedly C4 was available so i grabbed it. later I found out it was a AOD. dang got to go feed the dogs and the grand kids so i will continue this in a bit . bill

A 351W will bolt directly in place of a 302. The only thing that might have to be tweaked is if you already have an exhaust. The only thing with that is the exhaust manifolds will be 1" higher. 3.70:1 gears is like perfect for the AOD tranny if you choose to use it.

The 351W will bolt up the same as the 302 you have just like 51 said. The 351W is slightly wider and taller than the 302 (the intake manifold is slightly wider). The reason for the taller block is the longer stroke. As far as the rear gears, you don't have to take them out to find out. Of course you can and count the ring and pinion teeth and divide the number. I find out my gears by lifting the rearend of the car. Make a mark on your yoke or driveshaft. Turn your wheels one revolution. While turning the wheel, keep your eye on the driveshaft and count how many times it goes around. Three turns means you have 3.00's. three and half turns, 3.50's. Almost four turns, probably 3.7's or 3.89's. Not exact but it will give you a good idea what gearing your running in the rearend. My advice? Keep the Ford powerplant in the Ford.
