a better 10 k mod?

i was going to do the 10k mod and i dont know if anyone has tried this or not or could tell me if shouldnt do this but, instead of the 10k resistor i was going to use a poteniometer(i think thats how u spell it)its a dial that varies from 0-20k ohm and was going to mount to dash so it could be at 0 ohm and stock or i could turn it up to 20k also i have seen the 5k,10k,and 18.5k but wpould 20k be to much and do you think it would be ok to adjust it on the fly

The higher the ohms over the 10k the closer to the stock you get. Less ohms = more power to a point. the smallest ive tried is a 5.7k ohm and low end is good but the truck defuels over 2500 rpm. 10k you are good. Heres what i would do if i was you. Get a 0-10k ohm poteniometer and on the center terminal solder on a 5.7k ohm resistor then hook up like a 10k mod. this setup will give you variable resistance of 5.7k-15.7k that would be a nice range for this mod.

Like jeremy said, make sure you add an inline resistor. You never want the resistance to go to zero. If you really want to get fancy and have your truck idle normally then you have to wire into the ivs to turn the 10k off when your idling. I did all of this and it really wasn't worth the time spent. Just save your $$$ and time and get a chip. I can find the instructions for you if you really want to do the mod.
