6.2l Block Line

Cleveland casting is now preparing the mold line for casting of 6.2l blocks.
These are iron and for trucks. They are to be assembled at windsor engine plant in Canada. An aluminum DOHC version is to be assembled at Romeo,Michigan engine plant. Should be up and casting blocks by fall 2007. Production is to start by end of year to support launch of 6.2 Boss, yes management still refers to it as Boss V8.

Is the F-150 going to get the new 6.2 , because Truck Trend was acting like they were only going to put it in the Mustang. Truck Trend also said Ford was going to push for the Diesel in 2008 or 2009 instead of new V8.

NickFordMan is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
This engine is a SOHC isn't it?

Rumors say sohc 2v for truck apps, dohc4v for performance apps - just like the mod lineup used to be.

From what I have been told and from the numbers to be cast, the F-series is going to get the 6.2l.The 4.4l diesel block is CGI and management is deciding right now where the block is to be cast. Now the aluminum block, is to be cast by another supplier and that is dohc.
I personally have not seen a complete engine, so I can not tell you any more about it.
Ward's auto reports had a story about a week ago titled" Ford intends to be V8 BOSS". It really does not give that much info except that management plans on giving up nothing, and feels the new V8 is more than competitive with anything anyone else has, including the toyota and GM 7L. The bore size for the 6.2l block is over 4" and the bore spacing allows for a healthy bore. Not quite a 460 but larger than the old windsor blocks.
