Drove the 6.4L Last Night!!!!!!!

Our Dealership just got our first 08, it’s an XL Pick-up with the 6.4L I got the keys last night and took it for a spin with my father. The truck has *****. It feels like driving a Heavily Chipped out 6.0L. The Truck moves, and handles great. I laid into it kind of hard after a slow start and broke loss! You Get in the, and you drive it, and it’s a whole new ball game. The New Ford Super Duty is going to dominate the truck market!!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

I can verify the feeling of a tuned 6.0...I was VERY impressed with the power and response of the new 6.4. I won't be breaking LOSS(grin) the tires any time soon, but it was impressive enough that I bought the truck. The exhaust is a little strange looking and my normally "Mod Friendly" dealer quickly explained that FORD will be quick to deny warranty claims on aftermarket exhaust and tuners. They have always claimed this was coming, but it seems that they are especially aggressive for this series. I've run tuners and exhausts on all of my PowerStrokes, but probably won't test the water on this series. Just looking forward to the new truck.

Good to hear they run so good its a shame they dont look half as good as the 06/07 I was quite disapointed in the new front end/ headlights.

It is good to see your posts again... Welcome back and enjoy you new ride...
Do you have any pictures of it yet. If I look at enough of them I will get used to that front end... The ones that I have seen with aftermarket tires and wheels look sharp. I still wish they would have put the blinker lenses above the lights...

I have a chipped 6.0L. I can verify the '08 does NOT have the feeling of a chipped 6.0. I love the '08 and will probably buy one, it has a snappier response off the line because of the reduced turbo lag, but trust me, it does not behave like a chipped diesel. It is much more smooth, snappier off the line, but does not wind up like my current truck does.

From the pictures I saw I didn't like the front end either until I saw it in person. Then it grew on me. They changed up the lighting location to put more light on the road and sides when on low beam. I agree about the blinkers.

My 6.0 was running an SCT Xtreme tune and had tons of power and got great mileage. These new trucks are supposed to get much better mileage and have a moderate power increase. I'm more interested in mileage and that was the only reason I owned a tuner. It was nice to occassionally blow by someone, but not important.

Nobody has mentioned the exhaust yet!? Have ya'll seen that thing? Strange looking to say the least. Split path and has directional Vanes. I'm sure it has something to do with emissions.

The exhaust tip is designed to cool the exhaust during the Particulate filter regeneration which I hear will generate lots of heat. When it need regenerating it will allow unburned fuel to enter the cylinder during its exhaust stroke and it will exit to the exhaust system and burn in the particulate filter to clean it. I hear it will perform this about once per every tank of fuel ran... But then again I could be wrong..

Come to think of it...I remember the mechanic saying something about that exact thing. I'm sure I will get the full story today when I go pick it up.
