Well the F-150 didnt exist until 1975. so that totally makes sence.

Thanks for the reply on engines. I think I'll use that book with the bad info as a fire starter next time I have a warming fire.

I know Ford made a "leisure van" (It said LEISURE VAN in big letters on the side) in the 70s, but I can almost swear I saw a "leisure truck" one time too a long time ago. I have no idea what a leisure van or truck would be. Anyone else heard of it?

Leisure vans were customized vans. They were usually short-wheelbase models. They had custom interiors with **** carpeting, built-in coffee tables, fancy bucket seats, etc. The body usually had a fancy paint job with stripes. Kind of like modern conversion vans, only much cooler. I've never heard of a "leisure truck".

I remember a "leisure truck" also. A girl I knew had one in the mid-80s. This one was a white Custom, so no chrome trim-had stripes added. It had a stripe on the side & letters that read "leisure truck", it had an aftermarket seat(can't remember if it had buckets or a bench w/foldown center), **** carpet, sliding rear window, maybe some wood trim screwed to various surfaces inside. Seems like it had a pushbar on the front like a free wheeling truck, but it was chromed. Brian

Believe it or not I think I just might have one in a box in the attic. Maybe I will dig it out tomorrow.

And don't forget the F-130 pickup. Seems to be extremely rare also. So rare, that Ford doesn't even list it.

How about 79 F350 Super Cab Trailer Special with 460, 2wd? Ranger XLT.

I picked one up last fall. What are the differences between Trailer Specials and Camper Specials?

Trailer Specials only have the little toolbox on the side...SCS's have the whole wheel comparment as illustrated on pg 2 of this thread...and I believe they did not have a plug for a slide in camper. Suspension may differ as well ie different axles. And generally speaking trailer specials are about a dime a dozen(there were a lot more of them made) haha.

PS I assume you meant Super Camper Specials... I believe there was also a Camper S Special which is a whole nother beast.

Leisure Truck were van conversions on Ford, Dodge and Chevy vans. The same company also used the name "Family Wagon." They had wood grained interiors, a ladder on the rear door, aftermarket captains chairs, outside spare tires, **** carpeting, and some exterior dress up stripes. Some also had raised roofs. These are built in the Riverside, CA area.

These were mainly sold by camper and trailer dealers, tho Ford, Chevy and Dodge dealers sold them too. A local dealer, Fullerton Dodge has sold them for years.

This white leisure truck sounds just like the van numberdummy describes. This one was a white 79 shortbed reg cab, had wood on the door panels/dash, **** on the floor & kick panels etc. Had kinda purplish striping w/"leisure truck" cut out of the stripe(white paint showing thru). Definately a conversion, as Ford would not have changed the seat due to liability I'm sure. Brian

Yeah now that you say that, I do remember the vans having the newer 80s frontends.
