Test Drove A 2008 Today

2008 White f250 CC Lariat 4x4 Swb torque shift 3.73ls.

Very nice truck,Super quiet and smooth.Seems like alot of insulation on the firewall and under the cab. The turning radius and smooth ride is unbelievable, nothing like my 02 SD.Almost has an F150 feel and look on the inside.,Still a very nice truck though.
As for power,,, My 7.3 has more seat of the pants power,it felt strong, nothing like the 6.0's crisp throttle, definately strong though. My mechanic thinks there is a break in tune and once it reaches xxx miles it will get much stronger. He has only been to 1 class on the 6.4 so far, going again next week.
That step on the tailgate is really cool too, they should have done that years ago.. I was impressed, though cautious.. hate to give up my 7.3,just yet anyway. Owner shot me a price of 46560.00 for this truck or one identical but maybe a different color.MSRP on the sticker was 51300.00
Looked at a F350 SRW FX4, which is now a model\trim level, not a package like it used to be. The black leather interior is gorgeous, but i did not care for the argent bumpers and wheel trim,or the black grille. this truck was 44690.00. both these trucks had the tow command package, skid plates and LS axles.
Had him price me a Red LB XLT CC SRW F350 6.4 torqueshift, with all the right stuff like Captain chairs,LS axle,Skid plates, cab lights, fog lights and Manual 4x4,not the shift on the fly. and it came to 43500.00.
just seems like a lot of money for something that hasnt proved itself just yet, although I liked it.
I also have looked and drove several Dodge\Cummins and chevy\Duramax trucks. Chevy just didnt feel like a truck,,almost whimpy feeling, but it was quick from a red light..The dodge felt like a truck,,only the body and interior felt whimpy. The Superduty is by far the surperior product,,no doubt about it.
I still love my Red 02 F350,best truck i have ever had.If I break down and get an 08 Superduty someone is going to get a very good truck..Only wish my accountant could come up with a better deduction than Buy a new truck.. decisions, decisions.!!

Power

I suspect that most of us buy these vehicles to tow heavy loads. I therefore only care about pulling power, not acceleration when vehicle is new, not broken in, empty, and not pulling a trailer.

My '99 7.3 had a decent amount of pulling power when stock. Not enough however since it was only rated to 500 lbs of torque and bogged on hills. After installing a Banks power kit and new exhaust, it is rated to 671 lbs of torque and is a great pulling machine.

If a stock 7.3 has more power than the new 6.4, Ford is in trouble and I will hate my new 6.4 when it is delivered next week. I doubt that is the case and look forward to breaking in the 6.4, hooking up to my trailer, and posting a real evaluation in a couple of weeks.

They have more power than the 6.0 the power deivery is just smoother across the range. Go test drive a 6.4 and watch the MPH climb and then drive a 6.0 you will notice it. The rason u dont seem that its going fast is the quietness of the engine, go test drive a new 6 speed cummins. you think its a dawg until u look at MPH climb because you cannot hear the engine.
