429 swap

Hi I'm doing a 429 swap in my '89 f150 and I was just wondering what the big issues would be with doing the swap? One question I have is whether or not I could keep my stock fuel pump and regulate it somehow because of rather high pressure for the carb and if not what would be the best setup because i didnt really want to go with a mechanical fuel pump. Thanks in advance

You can put in a fuel pressure regulator from Holley, Summit, Edelbrock, or any other as long as it has a return for the excess pressure. You may also need to swap the front springs since you are adding a couple hundred more pounds.

a carb only requires 10 to 13 lbs of fuel press.

Thanks i will plan on getting a regulator with a return line then and I was going to go with a set of f250-up front springs from a big block or diesel. I also have a set of older dual shock spring buckets which I thought about using too along with a steering stabilizer shock. Could the front sway bar be changed of a bigger truck because I am really not a fan of body roll?

A carb should only see 4-6 psi otherwise you will over flow the bowls because the needle and seat wont hold the fuel pressure back. As long as the mounting holes line up and you replace the bushings. But check the f-150 forum to be sure.

what i did when i swapped out my 5.0 for the 460 in my 86 bronco was to by pass the main high pressure pump and just use the intank one and then get a regulator from an auto parts house and your good to go
