All of our Crown Vic police cars have the "police Interceptor" badges on the trunk.

the vics get heavier springs/stabilzer bars too for the extra weight they carry (taxis get them too, i know cause we bought an ex-taxi and we looked into it cause the thing was a little worn out and we wanted to repace the sag and we found out they have heavier springs and sway bars.

It turns out that PI's do NOT neccesarily have the speed limiters removed, just changed. Local PD just bought a new Vic has police interceptor badge on the trunk and is by the vin an actual police interceptor and according to one of the locals I know who ummmmm tested it, the car is limited at 105mph. I would guess it would be up to the dept as to whether it's eliminated or not, and since this is a city cop car apparently it wasn't.

Oh and they will always have the biggest alt charging package available too, not sure on the crown vic but I used to see some with dual alternators on them years ago.

Well you guys dug up an old one...

I think the 105 MPH limiter may be specific to certain jurisdictions. I know in many places around here, the cops are required to discontinue pursuit if they break 100 mph.

Since it's all dug up though...the local PD back home has started trading in the older Tahoes for brand new Tahoes...and I'm not gonna lie, white and black with the black grille guard looks absolutely badass on the new Tahoes.

I talked to one of the cops in town one day, he said they were limited to 120 and were 6.0L/auto equipped, heavy duty charging and cooling package not available to the public, and the computer was reprogrammed by Chevy, but otherwise it was bone stock.

89CrewCab is starting off with a positive reputation.
Speed limiters are, in part, dictated by the speed rating of the tires installed.
