OBDII Code Scanner problem

Just recently purchased an EQUUS OBDII Code Scanner, but can't get it to work in my 1997 F-150 4.6. The scanner & cable are good, they checked out fine on our Durango. Has anyone had problems getting the codes or getting the scanner to link up? Yes.. I've 'wiggled wires' back to the PCM.

Thanks in Advance.

Is the ignition turned on? before you hook up or after you hook up? I have seen the key left off and a person left wandering waz-up with this. Just a thought. Good luck.

OBDII Code Scanner problem

All combinations attempted... Key On, Off, Run. All normal troubleshooting methods have been attempted (connectors, fuse checks, etc.) The code scanner website describes a condition in which the signal ground on some Ford EEC-IV systems may be 'too high' for the scanner to recognize the connection. Also in my 'what else is there to do at 2AM (and at work!)' internet searching, I found a site with the pinouts identified so that I can check for voltage and ground. Anyone else have any issues with their code scanners?

If you have a 97 you don't have the EEC-IV system. If the scanner isnt powering up at all, check all fuses under the dash and in pdb under the hood
