Warranty?

I just checked out an 08 F450 diesel King Ranch at the dealer. It was loaded. MSRP, with delivery and destination, was $62,500. The motor was quiet as everyone has reported but, I am happy to say, still sounds like a diesel.

The sticker indicated there was a basic 3 year/ 36,000 mile warranty and a 60,000 mile drivetrain warranty. It is my understanding that a 450 only comes in diesel, so shouldn't the sticker indicate a 100,000 mile engine warranty? I have heard that Ford was coming out with a warranty that would knock your socks off. What exactly is the warranty on the diesel and the automatic tranny? I can't find on the Ford site.

By the way, for what it is worth, did not like the King Ranch. The leather on seats was almost orange and did not coordinate at all with the camel/tan interior and the rest of the trim. I guess that is how the KR always looks but did not like. Glad I ordered a Lariat with black/grey interior.

My thoughts exactly. No king ranch for me either. I ordered the Lariat f450 black with grey leather interior too ! I was told that the engine is 100,000 mile warranty. Are you going to spend the extra $ on the additional warranty ?? I am not sure what to do

If I was you...spend the money on the service plan.

If it is anything like 6.0 100k warranty, the warranty on the engine does not cover the whole engine.

Ask questions on what is covered and what isnt covered before hand...It could make a big difference

Tranny warranty

Thank you Moneyfinder. The salesman at the dealership was pretty certain there was a 100,000 mile warranty on the diesel but nice to see it in print. I will be sure to carefully review the manual and other documents when my truck is delivered, hopefully in 2 weeks.

I wonder if the auto tranny is only warranted for 60,000? I believe Chevy warrants the Allison for 100,000 and sure wish Ford would do likewise. This is a particular concern of mine since I paid for 2 replacement trannies in my 99. The original tranny lasted 71,000 and the second lasted 73,000. Curiously, the 3rd tranny, which was a Ford rebuld, is warranted by Ford for 75,000. (That tranny lasted 1,800, was rebuilt twice at the dealership, and finally replaced at Ford's expense with a 4th tranny). Doesn't make sense that Ford would warrant a rebuild for more than a brand new tranny, does it?

Does anyone know approx. how much the extended 100k B@B warranty is ? I have ordered a 08 f450 and am considering the extended warranty to make sure I dont get stuck with major repair bills at least for 100k miles.

I do not know what the extended warranty costs but will be checking into it. If offered, an extended warranty on just the drivetrain would suit me just fine rather than bumper to bumper since most other things generally last longer and do not cost as much to repair.
