sway bar

I had to replace a bolt that connects to the passenger side of the sway bar. I noticed that the more you tightened the bolt down, the closer the sway bar would go. Is there a setting that it should be at or what?

The tube that is over the bolt should position the eye of the sway bar at the correct height by tightening the bolt all the way down onto it. Once it is tightend to that point, snug it down good.

I have a 03 f-150 4.6 L stx king cab bone stock 51000 miles
there is a clunk sound coming from the front end when you back up a turn left it kind of sounds like it pops? I looked under there but nothing seemed loose or broke. Anyone have something they might be able to point me to?
