Guys a friend of mine came across a 429 ford engine and was wanting to know what all parts are compatible between the 429 and 460 mainly distributor and starter?

The 1968-1973 429 engines have total interchangability with the 1968-1978 460 engines, but pistons and crankshafts must stay together with the respective displacements (both engines use the same connnecting rods). After 1979, there are other small matters but most are addressable, such as, 1979 & up cranks will fit the earlier blocks, but the opposite is not true (1978 and earlier cranks will not drop into 1979 & up blocks unless some very minor clearancing is done). 1987 & up are fuel injected and use a different top end. Although the heads are intechangeable between carbed and EFI motors, respective intakes must go with the heads, just like the pistons and cranks.
