Inner Fender Help

Was wondering if anyone was used the Custom Inner fenders ( Part No. 7504-STL) for 1955 F100 from Mid Fifty?
It says some bending may be required. I didn't know if they fit well or if they had to be worked alot.
You guys and gals seem to have seen it all on these old trucks.
Thanks for any info.

I installed the SS inner fenders from Mid Fifties on my 54. (See my gallery) Joe is currently working on his unless he is done by now. They do fit well but mine required a little trimming (3/4") off the read edges. The bending is done in place after you loosely attach the rear edges to the firewall. It takes some muscle to push the front edge all the way to the radiator support. They are held in place there by the bolts that attach the air dam to the front of the radiator support. After you have fastened them front and back, they will have a slight bow in them making them very strong. Let me know if you are going to go that route. I'll give you as many hints as I can. Jag

Sure do like the way they look though. Good luck with the install. Update us with some pics when you get er done. Joe

Thanks guys
I will probably go with them. I only need the passenger side if I was to stay stock, but for the money I think I will do the smooth ones. I was having trouble getting my finders and hood to fit right during first mock up anyway. It seemed like the inner finders need to be shorter so maybe this will help.
Thanks again.
And any helpful tips are appreciated.

I'm going to just throw this fish on the table and see it flop: You said that it seemed like your stock inner fenders were too long. I talked with a guy in the bay area on the phone back when I was struggling with the idea of possibly trimming my brand new SS inner fenders. He had also bought a set from MF but had not got around to installing them. I explained that I thought the new SS units were too long. I asked him to double check something for me and measure the stock inner fenders on his 56. THEY WERE 3/4" LONGER THAN MY 54 UNITS!!!!! So, my unscientifically-based hypothesus is that stock 56 inner fenders are 3/4" longer than 53-55 units. There! I said it! All you guys who want to tell me that I'm wrong, go ahead. But I know that once I trimmed off that 3/4" off the back the new SS inner fenders fit like a charm. Jag

I helped a friend of mine with his 53. We installed the inner fenders SS on it. All I can say is never again. Yes they have to bend, etc. but we had to remove half the front end including the outer fenders to get them in. It took a good 6-8 hours with both of us, not to mention scratching his paint in a few spots. My stock ones on my 56 are cut up and need to be replaced. I think I'm going to fabricate my own, maybe a two piece or fabricate something up front where it attaches to the airhorns. I don't want to discourage you on the SS ones, but they were a serious pain in the you know what to do. I'm looking for someone who does sheet metal work and can maybe fabricate me a set from 18 ga metal.

Ed, you are right, they are tough. That's why I have so much respect for somebody when I see them installed on their effie. I think that if there would have been somebody around who was experienced to help me reason through it, it would have gone a lot easier. I probably put them on three times before I was happy with the outcome. If I can help anybody make it right the first time, I'll count it as a major achievement! Jag
