It's tough to read the Q as it's typed in red, and the print is too small..try again in black, go up one font size.

Fixed!

I wish people would use the post editor rather than MS office.

actually, your question was answered in a round about way by one of F.T.E.'s smartest parts men. if Bill can't decode a part number, Dennis (Mil1ion) can.

post the part number here, and someone will get back to you soon enough with a what it is and where to put it answer.

i usually use this site.
http://www.hammar.dyndns.org/~djhamma/partnumb.htm

and if i can't get an answer there then i ask one of the pros.

I use the Hammar one as well, as long as you take your time and use a bit of intelligence on it, you will find the answer.
It also helps to know what the part is to begin with.
The first is an engine part for an 88 Mustang, the second is an engine part for a 93 truck.

These are not part numbers, they are engineering numbers. I don't have an engineering=part number, cross reference book for anything this new.

These newer engineering numbers are tough to track down without refs. The first one refers to 1988 Mustang, the second 1993 truck.(but just because the #'s refer to these vehicles, it doesn't mean they fit those vehicles)..Both are in the 9600 group, which pertains to the air cleaner and related parts.

Any Ford dealer can convert these #'s in seconds with the right refs. Sorry, I cannot.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE: Engine parts are in group 6000, fuel systems are in group 9000, The sub 9600 group, refers to air cleaners, brackets, inlet hoses, etc. While a 9000 part may have an affect on an engine, they're still a 9000 part. If it's strictly an engine part (cam, heads crank, etc) it'll be in group 6000.

As I mentioned....engine parts are in group 6000, and parts that relate to fuel systems are in group 9000.

So, even tho the parts relate to the engine, by the fact that these are 9000 numbers, and in the sub 9600 group (air cleaners, etc)...they are fuel related.

Sounds like a call to the Ford dealership should do it. Thanks for all your time.

Well I can tell you it has to do with the Air Cleaner/air induction system designed for an 88 Mustang.

and (-AD) has been changed a few times.

It's a Coupler for the intake system

Coupler – E8ZE-9B647-AD

You can read about it here.
