All I ever found for my 89 300i6 was a hypertech PTM. I am not crazy about modules, but it was all I could find. Being that it is a TFI-IV and not OBD2 compliant you don't have many, if any options.
You might try a MSD ignition, I loved my digital 6 on mine. Also EECedit, if you can read hex or know a computer super nerd.

There are some companies than will make a custom chip or reprogram your ECM. I know there is one called Nelson Performance that does a lot of programing for GM apps but I don't know any specific company for Ford. I have a '93 F-150 myself and would someday like to tune it up. I'd be interested to know if you find a good place that makes tunes for older computer controled engines.

Hi big block,
We have tuned *many* of those older "Big 6" 300 Cu. In 4.9 liter inline 6 cylinder engines - they sued to be very popular for towing applications, due to their torque production at lower rpms.
Give us a call at our number listed below & we can go over this with you, so you will know your options - but in short, yes, they can be tuned, we can handle that for you.
