Muffler break-in?

I have a Dynomax Bullet, a friend told that I could spray water inside the pipes after it gets real hot and cause the packing in the muffler to break and make my truck louder... true or not?

Not to be mean, but if you want a loud exhaust then why dont you just buy the muffler with the sound you want. And yes i have heard of this procedure with no significant sound increase.

I thought I was going to get that out of the Bullet, but it still is kinda quiet. I dont need the sarcasm either.

Thumbs up

Don't think he was being sarcastic

I coudn't help but read this thread when I saw an imaginative title like
"Muffler break in"

First thought - jewelry heist from the secret muffler vault !
second thought-what's mother ford gonna blame on us now ?!?
Svc writer -
"Sorry sir, u didn't properly break in your muffler - your warranty is voided"

that's exactly what I thought when I read it...

buy another muffler and get what you want, really

or take the mufflers off and i'll bet it won't be too quiet then

I put a walker BTM on my deezle and it's more than loud enough for me

I thought the Bullet was loud, atleast on my old '87 Ram anyways. I couldn't hear myself think, it was great! I also didn't have any cats on either and it was dumperd before the rear axle.

Never heard of that...there isn't a "break in" time for a new muffer...

It wouldn't hurt anything in theory to try it, but then, if it does work, you're going to have that crap and a lot of water in your muffler...

...kinda watery sound...

I didn't want to sound sarcastic. If i did, then I am sorry. I dont want to make enemies on the forum. I need help from time to time too. Just thought if your going to do it, then might as well do it the right way. The bullit is a straight through design, like a glasspack. cant get much louder then that.

the water spray idea is what guys use to do on glasspacks, personaly i wouldnt do it. bullets are decent mufflers, give it a few miles [500 - 1000] it'll get all carboned up and broke in. it'll sound the way it sould becouse it broke its self in the natural way.

if i remember right there ways a little article featuring the bullets in jegs awhile back. from the cut out it look like they were filled with loose mating inside. i'd think that if you'd spray water in there the mating would just glob up and get stuck in the perferated pipe, it would kill the flow and ruin the muffler.

like i said before give it some miles, it'll break in the natural way and sound fine.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll probably hold off on the spraying it, doesnt sound like it will do any good. No need to be sorry slinger, I didnt mean to shoot back so quick to your response, I just wanted to see if there was any truth to what my friend said.
