electronic ignition

I have a 170 with points. Haven't had any luck with petronix, any suggestions.

Andy, are you saying the pertronix flat doesn't work or that it keeps burning out? this is a quess but try looking for a post '76 200 cid I-6 in a mustang/granada/monarch/etc... these had electronic ignition from the factory (EEC-I and EEC-II). Just grab the distributer and modual. I'm not 100% certain that the 170 and 200 distributers are the same but it's worth a shot for upgrading to Electronic ign. The 250 I-6 that came out didn't share much with the 144/170/200 but the distrubuter might interchange also. Good luck.

Hi,

Have you contacted the Petronixs folks? I have run a Petronixs unit on a 170 and had no problems.
