Talking Serpentine Belt for my ford!

Hey. Im new here and im glad i can talk to ford owners like myself. I have a 1997 Ford F-150 Lariet 4x4. Its Green/tan with sport kings, cold air intake, and clear taillights. I was wondering if anyone knew the exact length of the serpentine belt. I tried to replace it a few weeks ago and the auto parts store here(autozone) gave me the wrong length belt b/c i dont know the length. any help is really appreciated. Thanks!

Hello jdallas and welcome to FTE !, Engine size and accessories driven by the belt would help to identify what you need. You can check Wal-Mart or K-Mart automotive section reference books for your belt too.

Is it to small or to big? Because there is one for a/c and a smaller one for trucks with out a/c. I just got one today for my 5.4 and it was 43 bucks at autozone and they had all the info for my truck in the computer. But to answer your question im not really sure of the exact length.

you should not have top tell them the correct length. Most of us don't have a clue what the length of our surpertine belts are. that is why autozone and other parts stores have the compouters that help them identify the correct part. Go back and talk to a different counter person that is more knowledageable and have them check. Then compare with the belt that is in there or just swap belts in the parking lot. All it takes is a 1/2" drive breaker bar to release tension on idler pulley and then the belt can be removed and replaced. I

I once had a 93 F150 with a 300 six that had a v/8 pully on the crankshaft from the factory and it took several trips to get the right belt. Ford must have run out of parts and substituted on hte assembly line

Well I went to a friend of mine who works at O'reillys here in Greenwood and he hooked me up. it was actually a 99 inch belt that fit. that tensioner is tough to get to but after a few tries it got easy thanks for the help. Do any of yall have aftermarket rims on your fords about a 97 and up?

I run the Mickey Thompson Classic II's in a 16" rim for a 285 tire and love them.
