its off topic, put it here cause this is where it began and i dont know that just any car could make it up its a steap hill. When i go up the first time im makeing fresh tracks adventully i just drive right up. Ive driven cars up that hill not alot of cars make it and if they do there stuck at the top due to the snow drifts from the wind.

I saw a breakdown of truck sales in CA for the 2005 model year while back and it is different than cars. I dont have a link, it was Autoweek or the LA Times.

#1 Ford
#2 Chevrolet
#3 Toyota

I dont remember the rest of the order, Dodge or GMC next, but Nissan was way down below them.

As for the original topic, Tundra prices, I think they are overpriced. Time will tell if it is a good strategy. $22k for a base model vs $18k for GM (and probably Ford and Dodge, but I didnt check) MSRP is a huge difference. I see a lot of base model old-style Tundras around, mostly owned by businesses and utility companies. Giving up fleet sales in favor of more profit on fewer units may work, who knows? GM or Ford may want to try it.

Take into account that Toyota will prolly not discount this new Tundra.

But all the other trucks from Ford, GM, Dodge and Nissan can be bought for $1000's less than MSRP, depending on the model/equipment.

Example:

San Gabriel Valley Tribune ad from 1/27/2007 : 2007 Silverado $34K; sale $26K

What does all this have to do with Tundra's prices?
You know i have an idea why don't we stop making up these damn tundra threads. i mean its the same thing week after week. come on you guys gotta be getting tired of it by now.

Now i could SEE if YOU HAD ACTUALLY DRIVEN ONE BUT HARDLY ANY OF YOU HAS EVEN SAT IN ONE. so how the hell can you actual compare a vehicle that isnt even out yet? on paper and reviews ( that favor toyota anyway ). That means nothing . hell my escort was given a terrible reputation and reliability rating in SEVERAL mags but yet tell me how come its still after 300,000 miles its RUNNING circles around civics and corrollas?? try explaining that one

the least you guys could do is wait till thing is mass produced.. see how many problems are asscociated. i mean if it has a lot of problems ( and i'm sure it will and to not to try to be biased ill say the new 6.4 powerstroke will also) then toyota's going to have a big problem. all this publicty may not be a good thing because if its too bad then toyota can kiss the truck market good-bye FOREVER. look at dodge had all the hoopla around it and fell short.. DODGE will never and i mean NEVER outsell ford or chevy hell JUST BARELY outsold GMC

Sorry about the rant but i'm just so damn sick of hearing the Tundra does this tundra does that . i mean come i've heard enough. i know this the competiton board but, damn come on now. maybe we could get the admin to just go ahead and add toyota tundra board cause that's what this site is turning to. this is FORD TRUCK Enthusiasts. not TOYOTA TUNDRA ENTHUSIASTS. There is a point of being Intrested in what the competition is doing. and there is also a point of being OBSSESSED with competion is doing. and some of you guys are REALLY going overboard.

You know 93ranger you do have a good truck.
My dad leased ( dumbest thing you could ever do ) a 2002 F150 4.2 v6 with 2 wheel drive with an extended cab like yours and it was a pretty good truck. although we didnt pull all that you claim to pull . but it got the job done with no complaints it of course wasnt the most powerful thing on the streets. but it wasn't no dog either. the only gripe he did have was the fuel mileage. hell we might as well got the v8

you know if we just ignored some of our more annoying and ignorant brothers , they may just quite abusing us with buckets upon buckets of horse manure. as for the toyota arguments, i was having this same discussion with a buddy from work and i was being the devils advocate and the realistic one. I love ford including mine and would like to say that i would never buy a foreign truck....never say never. Toyota may fail with this one as they did with the others ,but every subsequent truck was better and drawing more sales. The japanese mindset and work ethic makes the AVERAGE american look like a soft turd, it is just there culture, they are not satisfied. this one may tank but they will go back to the designs and rework it and rework it until they hit there homerun. IT WILL HAPPEN. quit lying to yourselves we have the recent history to prove it ala camry and the tanked american car market. in the seventies everyone swore they would never buy a japanese car and the big 3 rested on there laurels and were confident. they started slipping assuming everybody would take what they forced on us! what we really need to hope for and push for is the big 3 to pull there heads out of that warm, dark, smelly place. here in 2007 toyota has the big 3 and there car lines back on there heels, the knockout punch is no longer something that could never happen. we know they are not better, they have there recalls and so do we. the marketed better and never gave up, never rested and said this is good enough , they will buy it they have no choice but to buy it. no they improved and marketed strongly and know pretty much own the car market. the big 3 have given up. (what else do you call the fuzion, focus, 500, impala, malibu and the list goes on. they have lost the market and know are pulling back trying to save money, closing plants etc. they are paying fat wages, and health and welfare to people who are no longer even productive. people who were soft and not looking out for themselves, i struggle but kill my 401k as they should have. instead they are draining the big three of income needed for the fight. come on ford give us those v8 powered aussie cars, instead of this underpowered ho hum drab. the japanese want the truck market too, you think they are done building plants? haha keep dreaming. the guy that would never buy japanese is dying and those coming up behind are being marketed too. want another example, where is cadillac? we grew up saying man when i make it i want a cadillac, know what they say now? when i make it i want a lexus. at least cadillac is fighting and busting there rears to get back in. you guys that say toyota cant do it , keep living in your glass houses, the rest of us need to demand better from our beloved big3. sermon over, start kicking me in the ***** but remember they have done it everywhere else they wanted too. Love, and hugs,Dan

I think it's good to talk about toyota, chevy, gmc, dodge.. The better the competition gets the more ford will have to keep stepping up to provide quality cars and trucks.

some people that have earned 1,000,000 dollars will sit back, relax and retire.. The great ones will figure out how to make 10,000,000 out of it.. it's in our nature to relax but we all need to be pushed sometimes..

hope toyota keeps pushing, ford didn't get to number one in trucks by relaxing.

First off, nobody is forcing you into these threads so I can't get how people can post about how sick they are of reading (hearing?) about the Tundra.
I have an idea...DON'T CLICK ON THE THREADS THAT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH A TOYOTA TUNDRA.

Seeing this the the "Ford vs Competition" threads, we are talking about the biggest competitor out there for Ford right now. Even though the truck isn't even out yet there is lots of information posted on it and it's posts like yours and others that stink it up for the rest of us who want to have a civil conversation and not have it turn into a p**sing contest.

I would really think about who your accusing of going overboard.

p.s. Good post 71dusterdan! ( the longer one )

You know what's wrong with American Automobile Corporations today? They have the same mindsets we have here...people with their head in the sand, waiting for all the bad little Toyotas of the world to just go away.

Wake up...and grow up...because like it or not...Toyota is out to take over the world market...and they won't fail...it's their mindset...Shintoism...do a bit of studying on that religion, and quit yer b!tch!n!

Back in as late as November 30, 1941, there were the same mindsets in the US Government that said that Japan would never dare attack us. They found out 7 days later they were wrong.

We are still being attacked, only today it's with vehicles, not airplanes.

Wow is all i have to say

I dont ever think in my life have i EVER been so misinterpreted

I was not talking about the Tundra in its self what i was talking about the need for 10+ toyota tundra on ford forum all talking about the same DAMN THING. Go read them all and come back here and tell me everyone's not repeating themselves over and over again. it get old really fast. the same info over and over and over. i have read the exact same post at LEAST 5 times just worded in a diffrent way. . the point i was trying to make is why every week do we really to make the same thread over and over again?.. why not make on thread and talk about the tundra there? there is no need to have the same damn thread multiple times.i'm not trying to tell anyone what to post. but come on now people. and every other thead anyone else has made lately always ends up in the same way. talking about the toyota.

let me make this clear: I do not hate japenenese or any other race for that matter. I happen to like america. i look around the house and everything now a days is from overseas. its sad the way we cant even build a gotdamn tv in this country.. and that is a SERIOUS PROBLEM.. so what's wrong with me wanting to buy American when i can. and yes i am aware fords builds in mexico and canada. but to me its still an american car. I currently have family employed and retired at Ford/GM/DCX so excuse me for supporting the companies that put food on the table for 3 generations. I'm sorry if i offended you..

Let me finish this up and also make this clear: i am not hateful towards toyota for becoming number one in the future. They worked hard for it so why dont they deserve it?
nevertheless, i will continue to support ford/ gm/dcx . But there is only so much us FTE members can do. its up to guys in the fancy suits that make all the big bucks to make the descions.(and looks like they made some pretty bad ones). I can only hope and pray that ford will do better in the future. and with this new CEO mullay i think they will . because i get the feeling if ford keeps bleeding money like they have then..............
