The first couple of years, Toyota is going to be able to sell every truck they can produce. As a result, most of the trucks are going to be the more expensive models with a lot of options because that is where the profit is. If sales drop below their capacity, they will then produce vehicles for the commercial market with fewer bells and whistles. It is far easier to upsell a customer to a vehicle with more options than it is to downsell a customer a vehicle that does not have the options they want.
When I bought my truck, I had my minimum requirements that I wanted. I didn't look at the trucks that did not have my minimum requirements but I looked at trucks that had more than my minimum (and bought one).

You people must be forgetting all the recalls Toyota has off late. A first year vehicle thers bound to be problems. An in my area no dealer for lots off miles. Toyota will have a difficult time selling there truck it will take a bunch off years an by that time they might just give up. I cant believe people are so optimistic about Toyota an trucks. They have never produced a full size truck until this year. Thats scary. Theres bound to be problems an will there delaer network be able to handle it. None off thos people have ever worked on trucks. Sorry but it will slow road to hoe for Toyota. The Big 3 together will definitly be hard to buck here. The cars they have done this but the trucks will be a tough road.

What about the the latest design of the F-150? It sold like gangbusters and it was a new model. I'm positive there are recalls on that model and I know of at least 2 F-150's that have had their engines replaced without going over 10,000 miles! I'm not sticking up for Toyota but to use your reasoning for the Tundra to fall on it's face has no merit.

A first year vehicle thers bound to be problems. That was true of every first year new model of every vehicle ever built. Name one first year vehicle made in the past 10 years that's no longer made. (Let him answer...I already know the ones that are no longer produced)

Toyota will have a difficult time selling their truck. It will take a bunch of years and by that time, they might just give up. Absolutely false.
I can't believe people are so optimistic about Toyota an trucks. They have never produced a full size truck until this year. Thats scary. The T-100 wasn't a full size, that much is true. However, the current Tundra is only a few inches shorter than a "full sized" F150.
There's bound to be problems and will their dealer network be able to handle it? None off those people have ever worked on trucks. Gee, really? What then are current Tundra's, Tacoma's, Sequoia's, and Land Cruisers...mopeds?

The trucks will sell like crazy...just consider how many current Toyota owners will buy them...then there are the other demographics I mentioned in a previous post.
Please, before making wild and inaccurate statements...do a little hard research. There are plenty of websites that match the criteria.
Oh, by the way...I'm waiting for the new F150, which I plan on buying...I'm no Toyota fan, but at least I generally know what the hell I'm talking about!

Right here Bill man California is way different then nebraska an most midwest states. Sorry Bill if I have offended you with my posts. Research I dont need to do research.Wild an inaccurate statements we all have right to our opinion. It is no more wild an innacurate then what your opinion is. Come to the midwest an see whats its all about. An yes Toyota dealers are few an far between. Out here they will not sell. Maybe in California they will sell well. It seems like foreign cars are making great in roads out there an the Big 3 are having a tough time. My opinion is that mine an mine only.We have a right to express it. Thats what a forum is all about. This is the Ford vs competiton forum an we have a right to state our opinion. Ive been reading your posts an get lot off useful info out off them. There are just a handful off Toyota dealers here in Nebraska whereas theres a ton off Chevy an Ford dealers around the state. Come to Nebraska Ill show you around some time.
Anybody that says anything is going to sell like gangbusters is just guessing nobody knows for sure. Its just an opinion an thats all it is. Along with the rest off the forum members around here. All I know is we agree to disagree. Can we get along now.

I do respect some of your opinions, and yes I've been to Nebraska (Museum of the Fur Trade in Chadron, Fort Robinson, Omaha UPRR Museum, etc).
In the central and western regions, there are few cities, just a smattering of small towns (my passion, btw).
But when you say Toyota won't sell, (sadly) you're wrong. People will buy them like crazy.
Do I want this to happen? Hell, no!
BTW..you are welcome to come here, and I'll show you around..and it won't be in a Toyota!
EDIT: Only 40% of the cars sold in Southern California are "domestics" (Ford, GM, DC) the rest are "foreign" (Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes, BMW, etc). I don't know what the percentage of trucks sold is, but the "domestic" figures are prolly 65% to "foreign" 35%.

I have had Toyotas before and have had great luck with them I would seriously consider buying the new Tundra if it was avalable with a manual transmission, but its only an automatic, which is a deal breaker for me. Too bad, because there are a lot of other things I like about it. I bet they will sell all they can make.

And your point of this? So you can back your truck up a hill with about 4-6 inches of snow. If you have good tires and some weight in the back you can do that with a 4 cylinder S-10. It would be nice to see how steep the hill actually is.
I can post a video on me backing out of my driveway in my Dodge Stratus in the with the same amount of snow but that really doesn't prove a point.
