Thumbs down

Overpriced, loose feeling steering, overpriced, no power adjustable pedals available, overpriced, at $28,440.00 MSRP for the SR5 Double Cab 5.7, most of the stuff you want is gonna cost a hell of a lot more. Full report tonight.

Yes, I just drove one..spent 3 hours at local dealer evaluating two models.

It failed miserably, IMO to live up to all the hype.

Well, I hope the potential buyers see the same drawbacks I did. To get a 5.7 Tundra SR5 as nicely equipped as a 5.4 F150 XLT, it will cost the buyer at least $5,000.00 more.

Did I mention the Pep Boys quality floormats? $178.00 !!!

Sounds like Toyota's going for the "pay for our name" approach. I really can't see this truck being that much more superior (if any) to the other brands. Seems like the name "Toyota" is supposed to be the justification for the price jump from the other brands. Ha, I still wouldn't buy that Toilet...I mean Toyota..

This whole test drive episode went 3 hours. It got as far as crunching numbers. There are no deals out there...full pop. I used the excuse of no power adjustable pedals to get the hell away from their clutches. They tried pulling the old "lets see your registration" BS. I knew the score already, giving them a photostat copy...saying they could keep it.

That's the latest ploy, hand them your registration, into the back room it goes...good luck getting out of any dealership within several hours. When you want to leave, these salespeople can never find your registration.

What was amazing is the Toyota salesman had never seen power adjustable pedals before..I had to show him how they worked in mine!

What's all the hoopla about truck frames? I doubt that no more than 5% of all buyers even care whether the frame is boxed, perimetered, laddered or channeled. If they even understand what those terms mean, I'd be surprised.

And no one worth his salt would tow any more than 7,000 pounds with any half ton truck..and considering the state of brakes today, 7,000 pounds is too much.
There something to what your saying in this post. I was at a local Ford dealership that had a showroom display of pikcup truck frame sections from various manufacturers. The salesman was showing a couple the display and I could see the eyes of the customers just rolling up into their heads as he discribed how the Ford was made and stronger than any of the competition. Then they went on to the options and paint colors. Boy! Were they involved! People don't care about what it can do. It's more a matter of what it LOOKS LIKE it can do! I suppose that is why there are so many F-250 screw and scabs doing commuter duty in rush hour traffic...

Toy trucks FOREVER had boxed frames, then went to a C-channel on the Tundras.

Except for early Broncos, Ford has always used a C-channel up untill the current 150. What's funny is the Super Duties still use a C-channel after the front section.

So the paradox is:

If the Ford 150 frame is superiour because it's boxed, is the Super Duty (and every previous 150) junk because they use C-channel frames?

I think I posted this before.........the ONLY time I've heard/read of frame problems was when Ford had too many holes in the new for 1980 frames and GM frames of the 70's cracked at the steering box.

Otherwise I agree with you 100%..........a lot of hoopla.
I believe they are boxed more for torsional rigidity than anything else. Keeps the truck from twisting, also lifts the lowest/lightest corner of the vehicle when twisted- Say in offroading...

Hey buddy the f 150 was already compared vs tundra, titan, chevy and dodge. Guess who was the winner? Nop not our f 150, it was the titan in 1st place. Tundra in 2nd. ford 3rd. dodge 4th and chuvy crap in 5th place yep last place. The comparison could be find in the truck trend web page.

Funny you should bring up articulation.........a "stiffer" frame could be a disadvantage when rock crawling

I read the Car & Driver comparison not too long ago and they found the F-150's structure flexed noticeably more on rough roads than those of the new Tundra or Silverado.
