It also matters if you use your truck as a truck, and most people dont anymore so anything will work I guess. During the summer I get a bed full of rock every week or so in my truck, icemelt (salt) in the winter, logs, branches, dogs, barbed wire, etc. etc. etc. I have to say that my Linex would outlast a bedrug. I have a bedslide that I take in and out as well that has a marine grade carpet on it, so I know they are tough, but if you gring in salt, straw bales, and everything else I mentioned, spary in is the way to go.... my truck is an 04 with 102K miles on it and the bed still looks like when I bought it. I have a rolltop hard cover, so maybe no sun fade, but there is not a scratch on it.

the bedrug will hold up about as well and is easily removed if need be....rocks...no problems...yard debris...no problems...mulch..no problems. just spray it out and it looks good or you can even vacuum it out...plus its soft to the old knees.....oh yeah---dog crap...no problems LOL

Bed Rug is the way to go! With or without a tonneau cover...you can not damage it and they warranty it if you do

for us hunters, I can't see throwing a bloody dead deer on a bedrug. also who crawls around in their bed? I jump up into the bed and stand in it, not crawl?

Leonard did mine both times. I believe it is a line-X product that they use though.

On old Rusty the bed is so rusted out that a 55 gal drum would fall through. Made It handy to work on stuff under there. Got one of them plastic inserts for free. Now the Tool box, two milk boxes with tire chains and other stuff slide to the back when climbing a hill. This puts traction over rear axle. Than when I start down the other side it slides to the front giving me a burst of free power. Never have scratched the tool box or milk crates. And yes I tie the drums of fuel oil and the 460 # propane tank in. I think that would be a bit more than the tail gate could take.
I sill got to check with the impound yard as they have a real clean 4X2 with V6 that runs excellent. Should get it for neer nothing. Swap out body's and engine and call her Brown streak. That sounds a little crappy?

i have friends who have thrown the bambi carcasses in the back on the bed rug and had no problems whatsoever getting the blood out at the car wash or at home. as far as crawling, yes i do crawl around in the back of mine at times and sit on the tailgate and haul kids and dogs....no sliding, nice and soft, can take a beating and cleans up easy....what more can you ask FX4?

i dont know what kind it is, but our friend just had one put in his 07 by the dealer before he picked it up, they drove it to the place to get it done. its not line-x or rhino, i forgot the name but it looks glossy and is actually pretty slippery....i like my dads line-x a hell of a lot better

I like the BedRug also. Love the way it fits in the bed groves to make a flat surface. Me and my grandson have slept in the bed with no problem. I also like the way the BedRug spans the gap between the bed floor and tailgate.

As far as the pray-in looking like an old tire after a while (mine has that same worn look, by the way), has anyone tried using the spray on foam tire cleaners products to freshen it up a bit? Would be expensive on a regular basis, but could put on a good shine for marketing when you sell it off.

Back to the original question - the only serious reason to get a spray liner right away (other than a few scratches) is to protect your bed from dents. If you haul anything over a few pounds and it slams into your bed side it will cause a nasty dent. Of course you will have to weigh that possibility against your immediate financial situation . A simple cheap bed mat is a good temporary solution until you can afford the spray in.
