fan control

I have a 2000 f-150 4x4 that has only high fan speed for a/c heater. Speeds 1-2-3- no longer exist. Is it a switch or a control module? Also, the door code for the rear differential is 19; is that limited slip?

Your blower motor resistor is bad.

Most of the threads that I have read on this resistor say that it is under the dash on the passenger side. You have to get way down under there and look up to find it. On the other hand, my 2002 F-150 Wiring Diagrams Manual says that on my truck this part is located behind rear seats.

A 19 axle code is 3.55 open.

I must say, I've never seen one behind the seat

On a 97 the resistor is under the glove box, kind of above the passengers feet. I changed mine but turns out that it was actually the switch. The resistor is in the air duct to keep it cool, 2 screws one plug and it is out , much easier than the switch.

If you still have high, it's the resistor. High speed bypasses the resistors while all others go though it. It's a common thing. When you get it out look for melting or black burn marks around the edges. check the connector for melting too....

Fan Speed Control Resistor

I am very glad I found this thread....Yes it was directly beneath the passenger's feet in the bottom of the duct. Two screws w/ 8 mm heads & was indeed easy to access once you knew it was there. We now have all the fan speeds back working as it should.

Thanks again to those that contributed to this thread even it was back in 2007.

Thanks, hugger94
