Majority of the hotels at the Strawberry Plains Exit, which is exit number 398 off of I-40 are good ones. I just made my reservation at the Quality Inn. I have stayed at the Best Western and LaQuinta in previous years since the show moved to K-town/Chilhowee Park. This is just my opinion but I would say a guy or gal could get there on Friday and stay until mid afternoon Saturday and have a good time. Early arrival on Thursday I think has two purposes to get a truck exposure or to try to get a deal on a much needed used part. I say this not discounting the opportunity to fellowship/mingle with old/new truck friends. I walk fast so I normally get around to everyday in one day. I saw 9teen56, Brian B, and Gman all on thursday I believe last year because I left on Friday evening. I work Saturday, Sunday, and Monday on my job so I had to cut out.. Best wishes and safe travels. If see ole Faded blue parked stop and talk a while. Here is a website that should be helpful.

I would love to go, but the vacation plans are already made for '07. It's probably 900 miles 1 way, so its a pretty decent trip. Hopefully next year.

I am an earlybird since I like to check out the parts, plus I acually don't like the extremely large crowds, so I usually arrive on Wednesday afternoon (I'm about 6+ hours away) and leave on Saturday morning, often returning to the show on the way out.
To be honest, I am ready to go by Saturday, since, as good as the show is, after 2+ days there, and about 15 trips around the grounds, they all start to look alike.

The best part for me are the nightly goings on, BSing about the trucks, walking the lots, and of course getting together for some food.

Paul so true. Plus if IT is not there by Late Friday afternoon it is not likely to be coming.

Unhappy

I suspect I won't make it again this year. It's not that I don't want to come, it's just that ol' budget problem.

However, if everything works out, I'll graduate in May 2008 and get an actual job again, educating America's youth and being a fine role model. Soooo...... I think I'm going to set my goal on making the 2009 show!

Well I checked the map and found that it is 2145 miles from my house to the show.
I don't think we will make it this year.

Be good, Paul

Nobody must be pumped up about the show yet -- i figured this post would stay towards the top for awhile. May isn't that far away is it? Just thinking about the show cures the winter blues for me.
