Smile Royal Purple Oil.

HI,
I was wondering if anyone on this site has used the ROYAL PURPLE oil and what they think about it and is it worth the price they charge for it.
DID you get any better mileage with it?,is their another brand as good or better at a better price, where I live they want $7 a qt. for it.
I have been useing ford's synthetic blend in my 01 explorer.
SO what do you think guys.
THANKS
RAY

Royal Purple makes good products but I think many high quality synthetics (eg-Mobil 1) do just fine. Not sure where Ford gets their oil but I'm sure it's one of the major brands just relabeled.

I have also considered it , but decided that a good synthetic(castrol is what i use) can do the job just fine.. i look at someone like my dad who has a ranger and he hasen't replaced anything but tires and has 180k and he uses valvoline high milage.. not synthetic.. so 7 dollars a qrt in Tennessee as well, is not worth the cash.. thats my opinion..

The local shop that does my tuning and dyno work swears by Royal Purple and keeps trying to get me to swap over, but I just can't bring myself to pay that much ($7.00 here also) for oil when the oil I run ($1.91 qt - Union 76 Guardol) has been so good to me over the years.

Royal Purple is just a quality oil dyed purple. There's really noting special about it over say M1 EP. It is not worth the extra money. None of these great syntetics are worth the money unless you plan on greatly extending your oil change intervals.

I used it my last oil change. I did not really notice any difference although I have only had it in for about 2000 kms. Oil change today cause it's been 3 months(warranty requires every 5000 kms or 3 months). In my case it's not worth the extra cash that it costs.

I agree with OSin86. I increased my OCI's to 15,000 miles and buy Royal Purple online at $90 plus shipping for 5 gallons. If you are going to change your oil every 3000 miles, buy something cheaper.
