Question stale gasoline questions

hello, i just inherited a farm fuel tank, there is still some gasoline in it. how does one determine if the fuel is usable or not? what happens to old gas, oxidation or some other deterioration? to what use might old/bad gas be utilized? disposal methods? thanks for any help

it depends on the age, and type of gas.
first off, smell it. if it smells like gas, it is most likely still good.
if it smells like varnish, it is bad.

if it smells good, i will usually just mix it about 50-50 with fresh gas and use it.
if bad, i used it as weed killer in the old days, but now i dump it in the waste oil tank for disposal.

If it smells like gas you can still use it. What I do with old gas is using an older style VW pump, pump it through a NAPA water filter. Then mix it with fresh gas, fuel stab., and dry gas.
