Volare swap in 48 PU

Volare Swap
I put a 78 Volare frt. end in my 51 f1 and was quite pleased. Problem #1 for me was the clearance around the steering gear box. It fits but oh so tight. Hope it never has to come back out. Fairly straight forward, may even have the article that was published in a classic trucks mag. I purchased the k member from a local bone yard and then rebuilt it. I like the adjustable ride height that ya get to an extent. Im no pro by a long shot but it worked for me. Just remember to measure measure and re-measure,then go sleep on it first.

I installed an 87 Chrysler T-bar in my 48 F-3. The 48-52 frame is a little narrower than the 53-56, so you have to take a little more out of the top frame rail on the driver's side to make room for the steering box. You can use the No-Limit video to install it in a 48-52 even though the video is for a 53-56. The width is fine if you use 6-7 inch wheels up front and even 8 inch might work. I am using the OEM Chrysler 15x7 steel wheels with 50s Cadillac hubcaps. There are a few pictures in my gallery on the installation. If you can find a donor car, you can also use the brake master cylinder and pedal assembly and the gas pedal assembly. The biggest obstacle is the left motor mount since it interferes with the steering box, but with a little work you can work around it. All Chrysler 5th Avenues from 83-89 will work plus others.

Well then, he's had plenty of time to think about it, huh? I didn't notice it was an old post. Who looks at the dates on these things anyway? Guess I need to be more attentive...
Jim, if you are still around, how did the Chrysler suspension work out for you?
