1959 F250 4X4

I am restoring a '59 F250 4X4 with 292 y-block, T-98 4 speed and 4.56 gears. I am in the process of rebuilding the front Spicer 44 differential. Can new modern bearings and seals for a Dana 44 be used? I am also looking for the 4 bushings that mount the Spicer 24 transfer case to the frame. The truck also has 17.5 inch, 8 lug wheels. Finding tires for these wheels is expensive. Does anyone know of any 15 or 16 inch wheels that will also fit? I have already re-arched and replaced all four leaf springs and sandblasted and repainted the whole frame if anybody needs information concerning these parts of the restoration.

Most 3/4 ton wheels have the same bolt pattern. The only difference is the center hole. Chevy is about 1/8" smaller than Ford. But aftermarket wheels all have bigger holes so one wheel will fit all 3 makes. It also seems to me that 16.5 wheels are on their way out so I'd go with 16's. You can get 15's as long as you're running drums all the way around, which you should be. 15's wouldn't clear my calipers on the front disk, but again you shouldn't have to worry about that. Don't forget about your gearing. With 17.5" wheels you've probably got some serious stump pulling gears and to maintain any semblance of highway gearing at all you're going to have to go to tall tires to make up for the smaller wheels.

Coker Tires is who I contacted. They have a big ad in hemmings Motor News. I think the ply was 4, but didn't ask after hearing the tires would be $155 to $170 per tire, non-radial.

Dave,
I have a 60 F100 4X4 with a spicer 24 and mounts that have seen better days.
I replaced some of the uppers in mine with polyurethane body mounts left over from my IH SCOUT. These are ok, but not ideal.
I need to replace them all with the proper mounts someday. If it helps, someone gave me this FORD part number:B9TT6039A
It may still be a good part number, I have never checked into it yet. You mave have better luck with the Ford dealer by asking for mounts for a 74 f250 t-case, I know that these were still a divorced spicer24 and that is much more recent model year. Good luck!

I currently own a 59 4x4 f-100, it came equiped with 17.5 inch tires. You cold stick with the 17.5 inch tires and get them special order from dunlop thru any farming supply store like co-op @ 150 per tire (17.5X7) or change sizes. I switched to a steel chrome spoke 16X8 rim with 285-75r16 for under 200.00 for tire and rim from discount tire.
email me about parts, I am looking for a tailgate for the same (LWB)
