The cord on my block heater is frayed at the plug end and no longer works. I bought a new three prong plug to wire in but dont know which wire goes where. I thought I'd ask before going ahead and shorting out the heater in my truck.

 

I believe it's center ground and the two outside wires don't matter. It's A/C. Test for ground if you have a multimeter and that should get you your answer.

 

Doesn't the block heater only have two contacts? If that is the case, no ground to worry about and A/C isn't polerized. Just put either of the two hot wires (white/black) on the plug.
If there is a ground go as the above post.

 

There is three wires on mine so i guess the middle one is ground. Also, does anyone have that mod for the heater plug that you put into the side of the driverside bumper??

 

Go to beachbumcook gallery and he has the Marinco plug mod where it is mounted to the front bumper.

The plug is three prong, note pic, so rewire the same as you unwirered. Or do the plug in the bumper deal . . .

 

Ok, got the new plug in. See what happens in the morning.

Lol, good thing I didnt do that last year. I was pulling a 15,000 pound tank and found out the plastic piece under the bumper ripped off going through some mud and dirt. Found out it was dragging for about 100 km. Ripped it off and left it in the ditch.
