You have a 3.55 to 1 rear axle ratio and it is non-locking. You also have an 8.8-inch ring gear.

95 E150 rear differential tag.....

Thank You subford! The manual says limited slip requires 4oz of an additive when I refill the 80w-90 differential oil. Does this mean I don't need it? Thanks again!

That;s what that means.

If there was an L in the ratio ( as in 3L55) then you would need it.

No L means an open diff.

Maybe read this?

Smile Axle....

Thanks! I just got the old bearing out and new bearing/seal in. Waiting on the new axle to be delivered to the parts store for pick-up. I used the loan-a-tool program and had to put a total of $135 in deposits for 3 tools for removal and installation of the bearings. Glad I will get that back! I got two quarts of 80w-90 gear oil at the dealership while getting the new pinion shaft retainer bolt. I soaked the new bearing in the new gear oil. Is that two quarts going to be enough, I hope? The axle install should be same as removal only in reverse. Thank You everyone! This is my first axle job! You've all been great!

Putting the new axle in is easy. If you only pulled the one axle all is well. If you pulled both, there is nothing holding the side gears in place and they can move off center. You may have to push them back into place for the axle splines to slide in the hole.
